A Short Life History

Born in the wild wonderland of North Virginia Suburbia, Ethan grew up home-schooled with three younger sisters.  While in high-school, he earned his Eagle Scout Award with Troop 1577 and volunteered with the Order of the Arrow in Crew 470. Homeschooling also meant that Ethan had time to get to swim practice and workout more than any reasonable person would--often more than 18 times a week. All that time at the pool led to a mini-career in Aquatics, where Ethan worked as lifeguard, pool operator, manager, lesson instructor, and swim team coach.

Following his mother's footsteps, Ethan enjoyed four great years at the University of Virginia. While at the University, he enjoyed leading backpacking trips with the Outdoors Club, racing with the club swim team, hanging out with friends in Agape Christian Fellowship, and playing beach volleyball. All fun and play was secondary to a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Engineering Business with many research and teaching experiences. He graduated in 2014 with high distinction and was the school of engineering's outstanding student of the year.

Continuing with Biomedical Engineering, and specific interests in tissue engineering large constructs with vascular systems, Ethan completed a PhD at Johns Hopkins School Of Medicine in BME. His research included stem cells, immunology, implant design, 3D-printing, and regenerative engineering. In Baltimore, Ethan plays beach volleyball and participates in a running club to explore the city.
